Spring is here!

If all of you are having as gorgeous weather as we’re having here in Toronto then surely you have already dug out your Spring wardrobe. I can’t believe this weather! We have basically skipped Spring and jumped right into Summer.. it’s supposed to be +26 on Wednesday.. but i’m definitely not complaining, bring on the shorts and sandals!

In spirit of all of this sunshine I have decided to put together a Spring must-have list… some of my favorites on my shopping list rather… that I wanted to share with ya’ll.

First is the high-low dress. This is number one on my shopping list but I want to wait until I find the perfect one. The high-low hem is what is taking over last years Maxi dress trend and I love it! As a shoe lover, it leaves for the perfect opportunity to keep some length but show off your shoes.
This dress is from Forever21 and is super cheap, only $23.80!

Next, colored denim. As i’m sure you have all noticed colored denim is taking over the denim shelves this Spring. If you haven’t already tried a pair, do it! It’s a great way to incorporate the bright bold colors of this Spring into your wardrobe.
And if you aren’t feeling brave enough to jump right into the trend, a great alternative is pairing some white denim with a colorful top.
This pair’s from Zara and are $59.90 but the best thing about them is that you can find them in pretty much every retailer so prices vary.

Wedges! Every girl needs a pair for Spring. I just bought new ones for this season and I loveeeee them. Whenever a client comes in looking for a pair of heels but is struggling to find something comfortable I always recommend wedges as a great, trendy, comfortable option.
The ones on the left are Steve Madden ($79.95) and on the right, Miz Mooz ($145.00).

Another huge trend this season that I love is color blocking. The one downside about color blocking is that it isn’t the easiest trend for everyone to pull off. Luckily a great way for everyone to incorporate it into their wardrobe is through accessories- bags more specifically. We have so many great bags with color blocking at Town Shoes right now but unfortunately I couldn’t find any pictures of them online. However, I did find this one from Forever21 as a great example.

Lastly, hair accessories. These are an excellent way to spice up any outfit and add a little bit of fun (especially for Spring). The two below are both from Urban Outfitters but there are so many different fun hair pieces to choose from if this isn’t your style.

These are some of my top must-haves for the Spring season, I could go on for days but i’ll end it there for now. I’m hoping to have another post up in a few days but the school schedule is growing so I apologize if I fall behind.

Bye for now!

Red Hot and Ready for Spring.

“It’s a new era in fashion - there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together.” -Alexander McQueen

Hey everyone!
So part of second year in the Fashion Business program involves being part of the student-run boutique. This is a small boutique in the school that is completely run and operated by the Fashion Business students. Every student is elected into a position such as buying, merchandising, advertising & promotions, general manager, etc. Part of the advertising and promotions teams job is to put together a Fashion show for Seneca showcasing the stores merchandise.

This semesters theme was Red Hot and Ready for Spring. The show had an excellent turnout and was complete with great props (all hand made by the advertising team) and even a free candy bar! I wish everyone could have been there to see it for themselves but because that’s just not possible I didn’t pass up the opportunity to document it to share with all of you.

Because of the lighting, the video I took didn’t turn out the greatest so instead I decided to upload a few of the pictures to give you all a taste of what went down:

Behind the scenes before the show, Kate Pare rocking a Black Sheep dress, C’est Moi scarf and Maddox watch.

Kaylee strutted her stuff wearing a Dex geometric print top paired with shorts by Moto. (She also is the head of the advertising team and put this show together so a huge shout out to her for a job well done!)

Anna Maria wore an off the shoulder top by Black Sheep (Boutique@Senecas newest line addition) and denim Moto shorts topped with a C’est Moi fedora. This girl can pull off anything!

Black Sheep seems to have been a staple for this Fashion show with another Black Sheep/Moto combo- soo cute for spring! I wish I had a picture with the front view of this top, it is adorable.

She looked gorgeous in this Kersh maxi dress, suited her perfectly and can be worn for so many occasions.

These were just a few of the MANY looks from the show. I so badly wish the video had of turned out so everyone could see it but I think the photos do it justice.
Hopefully ya’ll enjoyed it as much as I did!
Expect another post soon :)

The Beginning of Something New

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

Hi All!
First of all, thank you for taking the time to come and check out my blog, I truly do appreciate it. I’m going to start out my first post pretty slow and simple- so please, bear with me. I wanted to give everyone who doesn’t know me personally the opportunity to get to know a little bit about me and my aspirations.

First things first, my names Taylor and I am a second year Fashion Business student in Toronto. I have always been passionate about the fashion industry and am so fortunate to have the opportunity to be studying something I love so much. I am in my final few weeks of school and am soooo ready pursue my career in the industry. I consider this blog to be my opportunity to not only share my knowledge and opinions with all of you but also as a networking tool to slowly make my way into such a competitive industry. I have acquired so much knowledge and experience through my program it has left me with a huge selection of career paths to take but ultimately my final goal is to be involved in the marketing and event productions end of things.

As for the blog, I don’t plan on keeping it strictly under one format. I want every post to vary in topic and theme to ensure things stay interesting. A sneak peak of future posts include things such as, Senecas fashion shows, street fashion, style tips and anything else I stumble upon that I feel is worth sharing! I am open to all of your ideas or suggestions on future posts so be sure to leave a comment.

Again, I apologize for the slow start to things but I hope I was able to give everyone some background on me and a taste of what to look forward to in the near future!

Bye for now!
